the right proportions
When it comes to health and weight control, the foods you eat are
important, but the proportion in which you eat them is critical to
reaching and maintaining your ideal weight and optimal health.
The Diet Code applies Golden
Ratio
math to create a diet of 52% carbohydrates,
20% protein and 28% fat (by calories).
Understanding The Diet Code Fundamental Food Pyramid is one
of the first steps toward eating a truly balanced diet. The base
represents the 52% of total calories that should come from
fundamental carbohydrates; half vegetable and fruit, and half grains
and beans – and including a bit of wine, beer and dark chocolate!
The upper levels of the pyramid divide fats (28% of calories) and
proteins (20% of calories) equally between animal sources – fish,
eggs, poultry, beef, lamb, dairy products – and vegetable sources –
nuts, seeds, olives, avocados and their oils.
The numbers 52, 20, and 28 have long been identified with prominence
in the architecture and cosmology of ancient cultures from Egypt and
Mesopotamia to MesoAmerica. 28, for instance, variously represents the lunar
cycle, a yogic age of spiritual unfolding, one of the Egyptian cubit
measures, and a fundamental Mayan calculational coordinate.
The same Golden Ratio formulas that structure the universe, the same
math that describes the human body, naturally creates a diet that
will give you everything you need (and nothing you don't) to fuel
your day and your life. Taking Leonardo's lead, we'll build from a
foundation of these fundamental foods put
together into perfectly proportioned meals - guided by numbers all
the way.
